Albacete with Emil #12

So last European championship race in Albacete, Spain. Emil was there with wildcard and beat his team mate and one Fin! Which is great for me!! I think its good feeling when you are faster than your team mate...

pics: Nordgren racing
But back to the race weekend!! On every free practice and qualifying he improved his time after few changes on a bike. And starting place to the race was 32 but he did a good job ending up to 23rd in the race even he got caught behind the crash in the first corner and had a little bit slower rider in front of him first few laps.

He did a good job there and here is sitting a proud girl who is gona see her boy at friday!!

Albacete 600cc

Final European championship race weekend was arranged in Albacete, Spain last weekend. We had three Finnish riders in 600cc and their races went great! Niki Tuuli 6th, Eemeli Lahti 7th and Jesse Maikola 21st.

Niki Tuuli started from 15th place, ended up being 8th on flag but two riders in front of him was disqualified so he got the 6th place.

Eemeli Lahti started from 24th place and after hard work he ended the race in 7th.

Eemeli: "No kisa alko hyvin ja sain iha ookoo startin, mutta jäin vähän pussiin ensimmäisee mutkaan. Sitte lähin vaa hirmusee nousuu ja ohitin yhteensä 15 ukkoa. Sitten rengas lämpes liikaa ja rupes luistamaa eikä enää pystyny taistelemaa korkeemmista sijotuksista!"

"Race started pretty good and my start was okay but i got little bit stuck in the first corner. Then i just started make my way up and i passed 15 guys. Then my tyre got too hot and started sliding and i just couldnt fight for better places."

The winner was Jordi Torres, second was Stefan Kerschbaumer and third Angel Poyatos.

Last Swedish Championship race and Silver in back pocket!!

Karlskoga 9.9.2012 / pic: Alex Persson
Last Swedish Championship race was held in Karlskoga last weekend. Emil Meyer Petersen was there fighting about championship and got silver after hard battles with others riders, tires and braking.

On friday he was fastest on every practice.

Saturday on a qualifying he got 2nd place to the race and finished the race second after championship leader (now winner) Joakim Gulliksen.  I got this message after race from Emil: "Very tough and close race! Got overtaken on last lap.. But it was very fun and i'm satisfied!"

Sunday morning was cold, less than 10 degrees, Emil got one safe lap on wet in qualifying and started from 14th place. He got a Fantastic start! From 14th to 2nd in first corner and kept that place!
"It was a tough race i had to keep pushing for first half of the race to keep the others behind me and when Alex came passed me i had to push even more to keep up with him. I couldn't keep up but I was going faster and got a good big gap to Felix in third."
"I had brake problem for the first part of the race and tyre problems caused by little damage to rear rim."

Emil's feelings about this passed season: "It was a good season, I'm satisfied with the season especially after the doubt in the moto3.. Many people was unsecure it could keep up but i have proven it can. I'm happy that i have been on podium in every finished race. I'm very happy for silver, gold was of course the goal but with my two races I didn't finish and Joakim who finished all races. I'm very happy!"
"Now we are just waiting for the answer for the wildcard for european championship"

Last Swedish championship race weekend is about to start tomorrow. Today Emil is leaving to Karlskoga with his dad, car full packed of racing gears, tires and stuff! He still have a chance to win the championship, he is second with 16points behind and 11 points ahead of the third. So anything can happen in top3 when they still got 50points and two races to go!!

So now every thumb up and fingers crossed for him!! Hope there will be great battles and let the best man to win!

Focus - Where does it come from?

In Lorenzo's Land?   /  motogp.com
30 minutes before MotoGp race there are people going crazy, flashing lights, cameras and journalists everywhere on  paddock and you should focus there?! I really dont understand how on earth they do it, riders who's life is threaten by one single thing that disturbs their focus!
I had done some research and asked from couple racers that how they focus before the race. I got almost same answers from racers and psychologists who had specialize in racing. Main thing was to focus on your own way, which calms you and make your head go on the "racing bubble". You have to picture the perfect race in your head, how the start would go, first corners, first laps and where you could make your moves.

Many riders wants to be alone, maybe listen some music, what we all had seen Lorenzo doing before the race. Going around the track in your head and thinking about the corners and perfect lap is something which some riders do too. And most important thing is to put yourself a goal and go for it!

Then there are those guys too who just walks around the paddock and chat with people, I really dont know is that their way to focus, do they just wanna relax and dont think about the race too much and wont let the nerves come out or do they just not care? Nobody knows but it actually doesnt matter how you focus if you just do a great race!

Meyer with moto3 against 600cc

This weekend was a Danish Championship on Knutstorp, Sweden. My boyfriend Emil was there too with his Moto3 bike in 600cc class. First i didnt beleave that he could ride against 600cc bikes but on saturday he was 3rd and on sunday in both races 4th, so he surprised me on a good way!! But he had some bad luck too with him. Crash with few riders on friday was gona scear the hell out of me and he hurt his leg on that too, but now its all good, just little bit tired Emil after a long and hard weekend!

And looking this weekend with Finnish eyes there were good job from Mika Kallio, 4th in Moto2 but really bad job from Niklas Ajo with that black flag and penalty for next race!

Talent named Luke Shelley

Here is one 20years old talent more for our fast sport, Luke "Shelldem" Shelley. He is now competing in the HMT Pre National Superstock 600 class at Thundersport GB but his main goal is to be professional motorcycle racer in British Superbike and get nothing less than a championship from that premium class.
Luke started competing with minimotos 2005 and after racing five years with minis he switched something a little bit bigger; 600cc. List of his results and trophies in minimotos speaks for itself. You can check it from here: http://lukeshelleyracin.yolasite.com/

Here is descreption for Luke's class Pre-National Sport 600:   This class caters for Supersport, Formula and Superstock 600 machines, ridden by riders who have yet to obtain their National race licence. Such riders may still enter the main classes, but this category is designed to help them develop their skills and perhaps taste victory a liitle earlier than would be possible in the ultra competitive Premier classes.
Now I wish good luck for Luke building his racing career and wait big achievements in a future!

Motogp - Silverstone

I see who my friend is supporting!
Second race today was Motogp, the premier class. This really was the most exciting class today. Fighting was hard and positions changed really really fast which was fun to watch and I beleave it was fun for the riders too, not so "boring" just ride and ride...

Todays MAN was Cal Crutchlow. He started from the last position and was 6th with a broken ankle. Im gona "put up my hat for him"!

Finally sunny Silverstone! Not this pouring rain like normally in Britain but a real sun - can you beleave it?!

Moto2 podium / picture: motogp.com
So one race day more for this year. First was Moto2, i really thought that it was going to be the most hardest class today, but it wasnt. I was really surprise that it turn out to be little boring, if this sport can be boring.. Start is the funniest and most enjoyable cos everybody are still in one big crew (in moto2 34 riders). There were some "situations" in race and it turned out like this:
